As a Piedmont resident for over 50 years, I value our community and the things that make it a good place to live. The adage is that people come to Piedmont for the schools and stay for the public services. I’ve been lucky enough to experience both. As a teacher and principal in our schools, I got to help our children grow and learn. As a community member, I’ve taken advantage of the recreation, public safety, and other services our tax dollars provide.
Measure GG will help the city catch up with the increasing expenses it faces every day. It proposes a modest increase in a tax only paid when properties are sold. The measure will provide additional revenue, allocated annually and in public, to maintain our essential public services and facilities and to continue the high level of service we expect from our city government.
Piedmont is a town of volunteers, in our schools, in our community, and in our city government. We all contribute time, energy, knowledge, and tax dollars to help maintain our community. I urge you to join me in supporting Measure GG. It will go a long way toward helping our city and our community going forward.
